My 77-yr old mom was diagnosed on 12/23 (at ER visit) with a billiary colic after experiencing acute epigastric abdominal pain. All blood tests (liver- and pancreas-related enzymes), as well as CBC were NORMAL. Her CT (with contrast) of abdomen showed gallbladder "send". She was sent home with oxycodone a 5 mg tablets and she has been taking those every 6 hours. However, her pain did not go away (I tried to extend the time over 6h for oxycodone) - her pain is now very "sharp" on touch in the upper right quadrant (in the beginning it was really central, epigastric area, and constant, not so sharp on touch). NO fewer, chills,no nausea, basically NO appetite, but I made her finally eat a few bites today. She drank 2 cups of tea and a little bit of water. Thus, day 3 of this billiard attack she is not better, maybe even worse pain-wise. I have oxycodone for 2 more days. What should we do? Wait??? Or go back to ER???
