My 91 year old mother has SIADH, probably caused by recent discovered lung cancer. The drug Tolvaptan has been used to control the low sodium caused by SIADH, but a couple of times, she was taken off Tolvaptan and her sodium dropped and she was back in Hospital (from rehab center - she fell and broke her shoulder). When they took her off of Tolvaptan, I asked why and they said not good to be on over 30 days as causes liver issues. At the same time the rehab center stopped giving her Tolvaptan because "they were having a hard time obtaining it from local pharmacies - we are in high end suburb of CHicago, so not sure that makes sense. So my question is what is basis for concern about potential liver damage vs trade off with cancer issue she still needs Tolvaptan to control low sodium (nothing else seems to have worked). Or is part of the reason the rehab center took her off Tolvaptan was because of high price? Up until this set of issues the last 2 months my mother has been relatively healthy for a 91 year old, still bowling with a 135 average, Iiving my her self in a multi stair house and still driving (recently passed her license driving test) and still an excellent pinocchio player. I would appreciate your insights
