My SED Rate And Uric Acid Is High. Suspects Gout. Don't Have Swollen Joints. Advice?
I didn t expect to be emailing with a real person, but this is great. My SED rate is elevated and my doctor is sending me to a Rheumatologist because my Uric Acid is also slightly high. He suspects gout , but I don t have any of the other symptoms. I hurt all over and I am very stiff most of the time, and those symptoms have been going on for years. However, I don t have any swollen joints.
Raised SED rates deserve a formal exclusion of a chronic inflammatory process occurring in the body. It is logical seeking the expertize of a rheumatologist since most of these conditions causing raised SED are rheumatologic in origin. It is not rare to find most people to have raised uric acid levels but do not develop any gout. Only about 30% of the people who have raised uric acid levels shall eventually develop gout. It is however advisable to adopt a uric acid regulator diet when raised uric acid level are found. It is in no a direct indication that one shall develop gout. Wishing you good health and kind regards.
