My Face Gets Flushed After I Eat, What Might Be Causing This ?
I am a 42 yr old female. In the last week and a half my face gets flushed after I eat. It lasts for about 1/2-3/4 hr. If I drink alcohol my face gets flushed. I have not had any alcohol for months. I eat clean bodybuilding meals. I wt train 4 days a week/ cardio 2-3 times a week. I have cut out all vitamins , fish oils, amino acids and all other suppelments since the flushing had begun. I am confused on what might be causing this. One final note, I have always had really good blood pressure readings. thank you
If you are experiencing abdominal discomfort with this...you may want to look into something called carcinoid syndrome. THis is not meant to frighten you but carcinoid is a rare type of neuroendocrine tumor which expresses chemicals into the bloodstream. Many people that have carcinoid syndrome will flush during and after eating and especially if consuming alcohol. If your symptoms persist, I would suggest seeing a gastro specialist and having a blood test called Chromogranin A and a 5HIAA urine test. This type of flushing will also occur during menopause, but you seem to young to be in menopause. Best of luck to you.
hi,
My first diagnosis after going through your details is facial nerve aberrant reinnervation. It is a condition that occurs when some one gets paralysis of one half of face and recovers.During recovery, the nerves form wrong connections with glands.so whenever you eat, instead of salivation you get flushing.Paralysis of one half of face is called bells palsy..it may occur subtly even without you grossly noticing it.Iam sur it is not carcinoid syndrome.so contact your neurologist. He may advice you enmg or EMG,a test of facial nerve ,which supplies halfface either side.
all the best
