My Father, Who Is 87 Yrs Old, Had Surgery To

My father, who is 87 yrs old, had surgery to remove a colon polyp, which turn out to be a slow growing cancer, on Tuesday June 23, 2015. He has COPD. His oxygen level wouldn't stay up. Then on Wednesday June 24, 2015 they moved him to MICU and put a pressure mask on him but it wasn't helping. They put him on a ventilator. This was about 11:00pm that night. On Friday June 26, 2015 they stopped propofol and removed ventilator. He became very agitated, confused and it was like he couldn't breath. They did blood gas test and oxygen level was down and other was up. They put him back on ventilator and induced coma. Question is: will he stay on ventilator? Did they not try to ween him off right way?
