My Husband Had Total Shoulder Replacement Six Days Ago And

My husband had total shoulder replacement six days ago and was given gabapentin to be taken three times per day. He was also given oxycodone for pain. He had a nerve block in his upper shoulder/neck area before surgery. Why was he given this and I also read there could be drug interactions if taken with oxycodone?
