My Husband Is Having Severe Blood Pressure Spikes Once In

My husband is having severe Blood pressure spikes once in a while--He is on Propanalol and Norvasc, which have helped the frequency.. He has had a complete cardiac workup x 3 over the past couple of years with normal findings. I am wondering if he has thyroid storm, or if something else is acting up. He is 77 and has always been active and in good health. Now he has these sudden spikes--bp 217/119 tonite. Normally he is in 130/80 range. Other than tingling lips he does not have any other signal signs of stoke.
