Need Advice On The Result Of Semen Analysis
Dear Drs.,
Please check these results of semen analysis by Agha Khan Lab.Kindly advise;
Quantity; 2ml
Color = Grayish white
Transparency =Opaque
Viscosity=Viscous
pH=7.5
Fructose =+VE
Total Count =85million/ml
Live Count=50million/ml
Sperm per Ejaculate=170million
Motile sperm =59%
Rapid Linear progression=5%
Slow/ Non linear progression=50%
Non progressive=45%
Normal Form=15%
Large Oval=10%
Small Oval=10%
Tapering =20%
Pyriform=5%
Amorphous=25%
Round =5%
PIN=10%
WBC=1
RBC=0

Thanks for writing to HCM
Your husband's semen analysis report suggests infection with excess abnormal sperms.
Infection is indicated by the presence of WBC in semen.Normally there shouldn't be any WBC in semen.
Infection may be due to prostatitis,UTI etc.
He need antibiotics for infection.
He need few more investigation like routine hemogram,Semen culture and sensitivity,RBS,Ultrasound of pelvis should be done.Trans rectal sonography of prostate can be done if needed.
Proper antibiotics should be prescribed after culture and sensitivity report.
At least 16 %Sperms should have normal morphology.You have 15% normal morphology.
Antiestrogens should be prescribed for abnormal morphology
If normal morphology is persistently low,then you may need assisted method fertilization like intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
Other findings like sperm count,motility are within normal limit.
