Need Advice On Total Cholestrol Level Based On My Report Below
I have a HDL of 111 and a LDL of 29 and a TOTAL CHOLESTROL of 252. Even though the LDL and HDL numbers are good, does the Total 252 put me at risk. I ve always have gone by the TOTAL CHOLESTROL number which in the past have been below 200. My doctor tells me now to ignore this and feel comfortable with the LDL and HDL. Should I be concerned about the TOTAL number or ignore it?
There are subdivisions of cholesterol – LDL, HDL, non-HDL and so on. It is not the total amount, but the subdivision (component) that counts… LDL is bad cholesterol – lower, the better. It harms / In the absence of other risk factors 100 is ideal for LDL-C. HDL is good cholesterol – higher, the better… it protects / it is uncommon and you are lucky to have this!
Good luck God bless you
