I have been on generic of effexor er 75 mg for several days. I am concerned about how long it takes to work and if I can expect insomnia vs drowiness. I am going through very intense insomnia due to anxiety and depression.

Hello dear,
effexor contains venlafaxine.It takes at least 2 weeks for its antidepressant action(2-3 weeks).And,it is having some insomnia and drowsiness as a side effect.Anyhow,severe insomnia itself can cause drowsiness.You please see your doctor and get care for insomnia also.
