Need Medication For Swollen Lips Caused Due To A Cut
My 2 yr old baby fell off the bed and busted her lip. Looks like she cut her lip with her tooth. She cried for a few mins, as I immediately put an ice pack on it, and wrapped ice in a cloth to stop the bleeding. Her lip looks bad, swollen, what can I do to help it heal faster. So far I have applied ice, gave her tylenol, and gave her an popsicle to eat. What else can I do to help the healing process? Thanks
Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Praveen G's Response
Hello, Welcome to HCM,
As your son fell over the lips and having lacerated wound it should be treated vigorously, because the upper lip area is considered as dangerous area of lip and the infection can drain into cavernous sinus and may leads to cavernous sinus thrombosis.
Meanwhile if he develops any symptoms like vomiting, nausea and altered sensorium, you need to report to your doctor immediately.
I would suggest you to give 1.Syrup Bactoclav 3.5 ml twice daily for 5 days. 2.Syrup Dolo 5ml, thrice daily 3.Oint T Bact for local application.
You can follow these remedies, but these drugs are available only on prescription. Thank you.
