Need Treatment For Hives Which Is Noticed After Ear Piercing
My 10 year old daughter got her ears pierced last Friday. On Monday she broke out in a bad case of hives. She still has them today (Wednesday). We took her to urgent care. The Doctor thought it very unlikely that her piercings were the cause of the hives. Do you concur?
I can understand your concern. I do concur with your doctor that piercings are the cause of the hives. Your daughter seems to be suffering from an allergic reaction from the piercing instruments or the earrings material.
I would advise that the earrings should be removed and antihistamines should be started. Your daughter should take either Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) or Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5-7 days. This will control the hives.
However, if they are not controlled in 5 days, a dermatologist should be consulted for clinical examination and further investigations.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish your daughter feels better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
