Newborn Seems To Have Irregular Heartbeat, Irregular On Slow Beats, Normal During Fast Beats. Advice?

My newborn Grandsin has abit ofn irregular heartbeat .. They said it appears to skip a beat but can beat both faster and slower at times. They don t seem overly concerned (he is 2 days old) at this point but it was very alarming to hear. They said today us was irregular when it was besting slowly but normal when beating faster. Any comments are appreciated.. Thank you.

Hi,
This can happen some times in newborn babies due to delay in maturation of the conducting system of the heart which is responsible for the heart beats.
Electrolyte abnormalities like sodium, potassium, calcium in the blood also can cause changes in heart rate.
However we have to wait and watch the baby.
Look for any abnarmal signs like breathing difficulty,blue colour of the lips,etc and if you find anything abnormal get back to the doctor.
