No Movement In Right Vocal Chord After Spinal Fusion Surgery For Scoliosis. Will My Child Regain Her Voice?
Hi My 12 year old daughter had spinal fusion surgery for scoliosis on Oct 29, 2013 a 4 and half hour surgery with anesthesia and breathing tube. Her voice changed and i took her to an ENT and the put a scope down her nose and saw that her right vocal cord is not moving. I had this done in Nov and then yesterday still no movement. We have an appt tomorrow to see another specialist. Will she ever get her voice back and is this an outcome from anesthisia or tube?
HI Thank for asking to HCM If she had normal vocal cord function before the surgery then right now the loss of voice could be due to the trauma to vocal cord it is all depend upon the intensity of trauma if is local type the this will come around, for that you will have to discuss it with the surgeon, but I think this will come around letter or sooner she may need speech therapy take care and have nice day.
