Normally My Period Are Regular But Its With Dark Red And White Substance.

I'm on my 3rd day of my menstrual cycle. I've been on birth control for about a year so my periods are normally light pink and only last a few days. Today I noticed it's a darker red color with a white creamy substance mixed in it and it's quite heavier then usual. Should I be concerned?
