Nose Hurt And Black Cartilage Came Out When Sneezed. Taking Blood Thinners. What Could It Be?
Last night while playing, our toddler grandson smacked my husband in the nose - hard. Later in the evening, my husband blew his nose and what seemed like a piece of black cartilage came out. My husband takes blood thinners and it was too soon for a clot to have formed. Any ideas what it could have been? Thanks for your advice. Grammie in Ottawa

Nose Hurt And Black Cartilage Came Out When Sneezed. Taking Blood Thinners. What Could It Be?
Hi, Thanks for writing in. There are two possibilities in your husband, both of which are not serious if he is not having active bleeding. 1. There must be an earlier occasion when he must have blown his nose hard which led to little trace bleeding which subsequently formed a clot. 2. It can also be dust which entered his nose and was expelled due to the nose blowing. If on blood thinners, he must not blow his nose hard because it can cause bleeding. Hope this helps
