Im 46 years, hypertensive since 1997 and on Metoprolol 50mg & Amlopidine 5mg, Ecospirin 150mg and Rosavastatin. On my recent blood test , it was found fbp is 168 and Hbiac is 8.7%. BP is hereditary. My doctors advised me to take januvia 100mg. Im using this medicines for the past two months. Yesterday when i got my blood sugar tested, FBP is 76 and PLBS is 102 without taking the medicine. My question is should i continue the same medicine or should i reduce the dose, as im feeling low now a days.
Hi, i had gone through your query and understood your concerns.
your sugar levels are under very good control. If i were your treating doctor, Since you are only a couple of months from starting the course, I would stop the antidiabetic drug. Encourage you to be strict with diet and exercise. I shall review your blood sugars after a month and manage you accordingly. You can discuss about his approach with your treating doctor. Strict Diabetic diet and exercise can help you for a while. But if the sugar levels rise again then drugs are mandatory. Doses are adjusted according to sugar levels.
Hope this guides you. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. Wish you good health. Thank you. Dr Phanindra Dulipala, Diabetologist.
