Noticed A Small Pea Size Lump Near Soleus Region Also Experiencing Pain, What Is The Problem ?
There is a small lump (about pea size) seemingly near or attached to the bone of the interior of the right calf near what I believe is the soleus region. It is not visible, but can be felt under the skin. It is not painful unless pressed upon. This lump was first noticed this morning. What might this be?
Hello and welcome to HCM, A pea sized lump in the calf region is suggestive of a cyst or a bursa. An ultrasound of the calf region is required to know the exact location and site of origin of the lesion. After ultrasound of the lesion, a fine needle aspiration of the lesion. Fine needle aspiration is an office procedure in which cells are sampled from the lesion. The cells are sampled, spread on a glass slide, stained and examined microscopically. This investigation will tell about the character of the lesion - benign or malignant and its origin. This will help to plan further management of the lesion.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
