Noticed Pimple On Palatopharyngeal Arch, Infected By Tonsils Numerous Times. What Could It Be?
Tonight after dinner I felt as I was beginning to have a sore throat. I checked my tonsils in the mirror and noticed a pimple like bump on my palatopharyngeal arch. It's flesh colored on the inner border but whitish yellow in the center. My tonsils do look spotty and white, plus I get my tonils infected numerous times a year. Due to poor nasal drainage. So I've been told. But my concern is about the pimple like spot. What could it be?
The pimple like spot with yellow center in the palatopharyngeal arch is due to an abscess (accumulation of pus) secondary to the infection present in tonsils.
Management involves: 1. Gargle with warm salt water to relieve throat pain. 2. Analgesics like paracetamol 3. Antibiotics like amoxicillin 500 mg thrice a day to remove the causative organism of Tonsillitis. 4. Antihistamine preparations can also be used to provide symptomatic relief. If symptoms still persist...it will be better to consult an ENT specialist. Meanwhile...avoid taking cold food & drinks, maintain adequate hydration & take soft, non-spicy food.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Take care
