Noticed Swollen Lymph Node In Groin. Having Itchiness. Should I Go For An Ultrasound?

I noticed a swollen lymph node in my groin 1 week ago. it does not hurt. It did get larger and firmer after I drank a few beers though then went back down the next morning. My dr ran a CBC and urine test and results are normal. She said to wait 6 weeks. However I have researched lymphoma and am now scared to death. I'm a 29 yr old female. I may be scarying myself into symptoms, but last night and today my scalp has been itching, which itchyness is a symptom of lymphoma I've read. Should I wait the 6 weeks or make my dr give me an ultrasound to measure the node?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to HCM Thank you for your query.
Lymphoma isnt first thing to think of. Swollen lymph nodes in inguinal ara is very common and even found in healthy people. It can also be sign of urogenital or any other infection in our body. The minority of these are malignant and lymphoma doenst manifest on this way. YOu would have some other serious symptoms. YOu should only do frequent check ups 1 in 6months. If this shows enlargement, biopsy should be performed. WIsh you good health.

If you're to concerned about this that it might cause anxiety. That's probably why you feel itchiness. As said before a swollen lymph mode is not always a sign of cancer even if it's hard or fixed what so ever.
