Numbness In Forehead And Head On One Side Of Head. History Of Fall And Hard Hit On Face Followed By Swelling, Black Eye And Graze On Cheek Bone. Serious?
I FELL IN THE GARDEN ON TUESDAY EVENING AND HIT THE SIDE OF MY FACE HARD ON THE EDGE OF A SMALL GARDEN WALL. I HAD A LARGE SWELLING ABOVE THE EYE AND A GRAZE ON THE CHEEK BONE. IT CAUSED A VERY SEVERE BLACK EYE BUT I HAVE BEEN PAIN FREE DURING THE 5 DAYS SINCE. HOWEVER I HAVE NOTICED THAT I HAVE A NUMBNESS IN MY FOREHEAD AND ALSO ON THE TOP OF MY HEAD ON THAT SIDE ONLY. WILL THIS DISAPPEAR OR SHOULD I SEEK MEDICAL HELP AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL? Margaret Harris aged 66
Hi, Thanks for writing in. Sorry to hear about your fall. In most likelihood, if it is on the forehead, it should be disappearing in a weeks time. But since you speak of a black eye, you may visit your local hospital and have your eye examined.
Serious features of a head injury requiring immediate medical consultation includes: 1. Severe headache 2. Dizziness and loss of balance 3. Vomiting 4. Visual disturbances
I hope you would be able to assess your situation and seek medical attention accordingly.
Hope this helps.
