Numbness In Left Side Of Head Down To Calf. Non Painful TMJ. Is This The Cause For Pins And Needles In Head?

I m 52, male. I ve had tingling/numbness/coldness in the left side of my head and down into my face slightly and also down into my left calf, for at least 18 years. I m otherwise very active in sports and healthy. It gets worse sometimes with weather changes but even when it s better, it is my constant companion. I had an MRI once; everything was fine. I have no idea of the cause. I do occasionally get visual migraines that usually only last about half an hour. I m sure I ve had minor concussions many years ago playing hockey before we knew that you shouldn t get right back in the game. Whatever is causing this, it can t just be stress because it s always there, even when I feel great. I also have non painful TMJ (had braces as a kid) so my jaw is not exactly lined up to chew properly. I m wondering if this could be an underlying cause. Can TMJ cause pins and needles in the head? Nothing seems to take this away. It seems to have a mind of its own. Thanks. -wayne

Hello,

From the details mentioned,i suspect you are c/o sinusitis.

Please do visit an E N T Specialist and get a thorough clinical evaluation as well as treatment done.

Avoid cold climates, cold fluids intake etc.

Also evaluate whether your T M J is dislocated or inflammed.

Based on the clinical evaluation, jaws has to be immobilised and avoid mouth opening too widely.

Complete course of antibiotics-analgesics has to be administered.

Take care.
