Numbness In Limbs, Shooting Pain In Head, Neck, Eyes, Nausea. CAT Scan Done. Stress? Aneurysms In Family
I've been in a stressful situation recently and there has been a lot of arguing (specifically 4 occasions). Its not normal for me but on 1 occasion I passed out twice. There was numbness in my limbs and sharp shooting pain on the left side of my head and neck that leads all the way to the front of my head and eyes. Its followed by pressure, nausea and pain for 1-2 days in those areas and its stays only on the left side. The other two occasions were not passing out but everything else still happened and the pain was excruciating (brought me to my knees). I've been to a doctor and he did a CAT scan and said its stress. He did mention that I couldn't stand straight with my eyes closed and swayed to the left. Its still happening. Is it really stress or could it be more? It just doesn't seem right. Please help. There is a history of aneurysms in my family.
While it is true that stress and anxiety can cause numbness, tingling and headache, your symptoms do not appear to be to be solely due to anxiety. You mention that the pain is excruciating and that your symptoms are always left sided. You also were not able to remain steady when your eyes were closed. These features indicate that some other cause may be responsible, though anxiety and stress may have precipitated your symptoms. In my opinion, a detailed neurological examination will show pointers towards the likely cause and indicate if further tests are needed.
Hope this helps you. Best wishes.
