Numbness On Foot And Butt, Erectile Dysfunction Post Back Surgery. Remedy?

Hi, Dear doctor I just had surgery on my back, dIscectomy on L4-L5, before surgery I had numbness on my right foot and butt, since the numbness present, I had erectile dysfunction ,before I had perfect sexual life. but now I can not have sex any more. can you tell me when the numbness gone and the penis can go back to function. thank you very much. justin .

Hi
the spinal surgery you had is probably responsible because the parasympathetic control centre for erection is at L5 .if this is damaged by itself, you will not get erection when you are stimulated but sometimes reflex erection is retained. for this, you may need intra cavernosal injections of prostaglandin and see if it works. this needs to be associated with sexual stimuli by eyes, ears or touch. if this does not work, then penile prosthesis is the only remedy left
