Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is 23 years old, overweight and works the overnight shift. three times in the last week, while at work she has gotten dizzy, blurred vision and most alarming slurred speech and inability to process language although she knows what she wants to say. During last nights episode her co-worker said that 20 minutes prio she had eaten bread sticks and drank a fountain coca-cola. We went to the ER 2 days ago where they performed CT scan and complete blood work up (5 hours after episode) and everything was fine. Yet this occurred again this morning. Any ideas?
It seems like a response to the stress and hectic lifestyle. She should take a couple of days break from work; take adequate rest at home. Encourage her to consume more fluids. It is advisable to avoid coca cola. Instead, she can take more of fruit juices.
Since the CT scan of the brain is normal, I do not think anything is seriously wrong with your daughter.
She must make some lifestyle changes like shifting over her work to day shift, moderate physical exercise daily and following a healthy diet.
If the episode recurs frequently, get an EEG of the brain done.
Hope this helps.
Wish your daughter a speedy recovery.
Regards,
