Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Ok so my 75 yr old granny was born with only 1 kidney. She has been going to the bathroom a lot at night and wearing depends for some time now but all of the sudden her dr wants her to have surgery and put some type of band around her kidney to help with the leakage and moderate amounts of urinating but in the meantime before surgery the doctor has placed her on oxybutynin 5mg and now about a weeks and half of taking the medicine she is having signs of bladder/kidney infection. She has a Temp of 102.7 before giving pain reducers to bring it down and the doctor knew she prone to getting these types of infection. She is going to her regular doctor in the am but would you recommend her staying on this medicine and at her age would she really benefit from having the surgery? Just curious as to your input. She is stable and fever is going down but very weak and just laid around for the last 2 days.
