Old Aged, Getting Chemo For Stage 4 Lung Cancer. How Long To Continue?
Hi. My dad is 77 good shape and currently getting chemo for stage 4 andocarcenoma, (lung cancer). After 6 weeks it is shrinking the cancer however they want him to continue chemo indefinitely at this point, my concern is at his age how long can he keep doing chemo before it does him in? He has lost much weight but seems to be handling it fairly well thus far. What are other options for him? Thank you
Stage 4 adenocarcinoma of the lung means that the cancer has spread to other areas of the body.
Because of this metastasis, the doctors involved in your father's care, are likely trying to prolong the course of treatment especially if they are noting a response.
If you have concerns regarding the length of treatment, you may want to consider speaking to his doctor.
I hope this helps
