On 60mg Cymbalta And 150mg Wellbutrin For Depression. Doctor Thought Of Tapering Off These And Trying Lamictal. Opinion?
How do you feel about 60 mg cymbalta plus150 mg Wellbutrin to treat severe depression ( been on Cymbalta 9 months but have hospitalized twice in past 6 months so doctor recently added Cymbalta...there was talk of tapering off these and perhaps trying Lamictal? throughts? My depression has been sever going on one full year now due to job loss, financial stress and other issues...
In my opinion, Wellbutrin should be hiked to its full dose of 300 mg per day before thinking whether it has failed or not. Lamictal is a mood stabilizer and would be a good option to augment your current regimen but cannot be expected to be a substitute for the antidepressants you are on. To treat severe depression, I would have preferred to try other medicines like Effexor which is a SNRI like Cymbalta or SSRIs like Zoloft and Lexapro instead of Cymbalta. Perhaps you have already tried some of these, but if not, you can give a thought to these as well.
Best wishes.
