Suggest Birth Control Pills That Do Not Cause Depression

I am a 25 year old female. i'm 5'5, 142lbs. My medical history is that I am an asthmatic and cigarettes and cat dander affect me. I am bi-polar and I am takin Lamotrigine (lamictal) 150mg twice a day. and I'm taking Celexa 20mg twice a day. i was recently put on birth control ( Loestrin Fe) and it is affecting my depression. I have also taken NuvaRing in the past and it did not work for me. Can you help me find a better effective birth control that will not cause my bi-polar symptoms to worsen? And not have continuous spotting fro the NuvaRing? Thank you. Kendra

Hello,

Consider using progesterone-only (mini pill) or Mirena Intrauterine device. These options do not have as much higher risk for depression and anxiety compared to combined hormonal contraceptives.
