On Loratadine. Had Fever. Not Feverish Anymore. Should The Medicine Be Continued?
WHY WOULD MY 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER BE PERSCRIBED LORATADINE FOR A FEVER. I HAVE JOINT CUSTODY OF HER. SHE RAN A FEVER AT SCHOOL THEN HER MOTHER TOOK HER TO THE "DOCTOR" AND SHE CAME BACK WITH A SCRIP FOR LORATADINE 10 MG ORAL THAT SHE IS SUPPOSED TO TAKE ONCE A DAY. ALL THE INFO I HAVE SEEN SAYS NOTHING ABOUT FEVERS. THERE IS HORRIFIC SIDE EFFECTCTS AND NOTHING ABOUT FEVERS. SHE IS NOT FEVERISH ANYMORE AND I AM TERRIFIED THAT SHE WILL BE TAKING THIS DRUG AT HER MOTHERS. IS THIS NORMAL? IS THIS DOCTOR A QUACK? WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Physical examination would help to describe better the health condition of the this little girl.
As the doctor has already done a physical examination, and prescribed loratadine, this is because fever situations are often associated with upper respiratory problems such as runny nose, sneezing, etc.
Loratadine helps relieving such problems.
Although your daughter has no fever anymore, she might need to continue loratadine for the above-mentioned problems.
Wish you health!
