On Multaq, Atenolol And Coumidin For Cardiac Arrhythmia. Having Problems Swallowing. Any Relief?
I am an 87 year old female taking Multaq, Atenolol and Coumidin for cardiac arrhythmia. These are the only medications I take. I have been having difficulty swallowing. Problem seems to be in the lower part of my esophagus, just before the collar area. I have been on Atenolol for at least 10 years and have been on Multaq and Coumidin for approx. 2 years. I had 1 cardioversion in May of 2012 while in afib I had problems swallowing and after the cardioversion it seemed to clear up. Had been in afib again from Sept. - Oct 28, 2013 when I had another cardioversion. I am still having problems swallowing and am wondering if this is normal and if there is anyway to relieve these symptoms?
Hi, as you describe it may be due to the cardiac cause and relieved by cardioversion, This time it may be repetition of cardiac problem, or a gastroesophegial reflux syndrome. It maybe due to the gastric hyper acidity, or peptic ulcer.so i advise you consult a gastroenterologist for diagnosis. Avoid taking more of spices, junk foods, and oily foods. Thank you.
