On Contraceptive Pill. Started Bleeding After Painful Sex. Taking Laxatives For Constipation. Why Pill Is Not Working?
I'm on the contraceptive pill. Last Saturday I slept with my bf an he thrusted quite hard an it was painful an sex was uncomfortable after that I started to bleed and I've bled for a week even tho my period is not due till next week. Aslong side that I've had constipation badly for a month an have took laxatives one a week for 4 weeks. Do you think its the laxatives stopping my pill from working or do you think its something else as I started to bless during sex
Hello Thanks for your query. Laxatives would generally cause the contraceptive pill to be ineffective. That is true, but it would not cause you to bleed after sex. IT could be painful intercourse that traumatized the vaginal mucosa. Incidental breakthrough bleeding due to failure of the pill that coincided with the intercourse is a rare possibility. I would ask you to consult a gynecologist and have an internal check up that will rule out causes of post coital bleeding such as - polyps, growths, erosions, cervicitis, endometrial polyps etc. All the best. Take care.
