Hi,
Menstrual disturbances are common when a new combination is initiated. You should use additional protection during the first month or so as the effect can take time. Breakthrough bleeding is common before the body gets adjusted to the new hormonal environment. Your spotting is most likely due to the pill effect and should subside in a few days. If not, you should test for pregnancy through the blood test along with a pelvic/trans-vaginal sonogram and see a specialist for further support. Hope this helps.
