On Contraceptive Pill. Was Bleeding. Now Have Reddish Brown Discharge. Problem?
Hello I am on the contraceptive pill and am now on my 7 day break for my period , a few days before I stopped my pill I was bleeding abit but I continued to take the last 3 pills , I'm now getting thick sticky reddish brown discharge instead of my normal flow of blood , I was on a different pill after I had my son 9 months ago and this was my first month with my new pill , has this anything to do with my problem or what could it be , I'm really concerned
Hi, Menstrual disturbances are common when a new combination is initiated. You should use additional protection during the first month or so as the effect can take time. Breakthrough bleeding is common before the body gets adjusted to the new hormonal environment. Your spotting is most likely due to the pill effect and should subside in a few days. If not, you should test for pregnancy through the blood test along with a pelvic/trans-vaginal sonogram and see a specialist for further support. Hope this helps.
