On Depo Shot. Spotting, Heavy Bleeding And Headaches. History Of Ruptured Cyst. Continue Taking Pain Killers?
I've been on the depo shot for almost six months. At first I experienced light spotting after my second injection; however for the past three weeks I've been experiencing heavy bleeding, passing of blood clots, severe headaches, feelings of light-head and extremely painful cramps that doubles me over. I have a history of a ruptured cyst and one miscarriage and the pain that I'm feeling are sometimes very similar to those two events.... I'm not sure if I should continue to take pain relievers and wait until the shot us out of my system to see if these symptoms will go away or go to the ER. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Hi, Thanks for the query. Depo sometimes can cause inter-menstrual spotting as side effect. But as you are having heavy bleeding and abdominal cramps, better to get examined once. These symptoms could be due to some hormonal imbalance. You may need some additional dose of hormones to control the symptoms. So consult your doctor, discuss this possibility and follow her advice.
