On Labetalol, Hydralazine For Hypertension. BP Got Low. Does It Indicate Any Abnormality?
I was prescribed 400mg labetalol 2x/day and 10mg hydralazine 4x/day for postpartum hypertension. I took that for 3 days then my bp got very low 106:66 next morning and dr said to cut labetalol in half that morning and skip the next hydralazine if bp less than 120:70. It was that low so I skipped hydralazine. She didn't say to do this, but over the past 6 days I've continued to check my bp before the hydralazine dose and skip it if it was low. I also checked before the labetalol and lowered that dose if bp was reasonable. Now today I haven't taken any hydralazine and only 200mg labetalol this morning. Is that bad? Am I weaning myself too quickly?
Postpartum hypertension resolves in most people, faster in a few… Because, the cause has been resolved! (Delivery)
You are right in reducing the drugs… Some may not need at all – after a few days! Check with your doctor – just be sure, the values are right and that there are no complications… The treating doctor can suggest further based on his assessment of the situation.
Good luck Take care Wishing all well God bless
