Hello and welcome to HCM,
Irregularities of
menstruation are commonly seen due to
hormonal imbalances in body.
In a normal menstrual and ovarian cycle, the first half is under the influence of estrogens.
Estrogens help in proliferation of the
ovarian follicle and the endometrial lining.
The second half after the ovulation is under the influence of progesterones.
Progesterones are responsible for bringing about secretory change in the endometrium.
At the end of the secretory phase, there is fall in both estrogens and progesterones leading to menstruation.
Any abnormality in the balance of hormones will lead to menstrual irregularities.
You need to consult your gynecologist for clinical examination and
endometrial biopsy.
Examination of the endometrial biopsy will determine any change in the endometrial stroma and glands and this will be compared with the stage of the ovarian or endometrial cycle.
Further management will depend on the result of the biopsy report.
Thanks and take care
