Open Sores Inside Buttocks, Close To The Top, Not Bed Sores. Treatment Options?
I take care of an elderly man, a few weeks ago we noticed he had to open sores on the inside of his buttcheeks closer to the top, we have no clue what its from or how to heal them. We have tried different creams but nothing seems to be working. I dont think they are bed sores because they are not on the pressure point parts of the body. Please help me heal him
Hi dear, u r correct bed sores should develop at pressure point but in elderly they might develop even at friction point and upper buttock cleft can be a site for friction in elderly. Now non healing can be due to 2 things. First its a bed sore then u need to keep changing his positing every 2 hour. Secondly it might be a simple infection which is resistant to antibiotics for which u need to swab the sore and get its culture and sensitivity done. Thank u.
