Pain Between Left Jaw And Ear, Swelling,, Spreading. Why Am I Experiencing This?

Hello, about 24 hrs ago I woke with pain between my left jaw and left ear. Very slight swelling but very tender to touch. Th pain has lessened over the past day but the swelling in that area of my face has increased and become more wide spread making my face appear much more full on the left jaw / ear. neither eating or drinking has any effect on the pain which is now diffused. if i press into the area i can feel a firmness like a swollen lymph node or parotid gland ?
