Hi, today I took a late nap and when I woke up and got in the shower I rubbed my eye and felt extreme pain in my left bottom eyelid . The pain is unbearable to touch and/or blink. After taking a shower I looked closely in the mirror and realized that there is a black dot in the far right inside of my bottom left eyelid. I also noticed that it is a little puffy/swollen compared to my other eye. It is also a lightish red/pink color. Please help Thank you~
Hi, Sudden rubbing of your eyes with any foreign body in the fornix of your lower lid has caused trauma and rupture of the conjunctival vessels due to which there is a black dot ie blood clot or subconjunctival hemorrhage and puffiness that is chemosis of your conjunctiva. The best thing you can do now is to wash your eyes properly and see whether you have any foreign body sensation. If you still have something poking in your eyes visit an ophthalmologist who can take out the FB on slit lamp. If not then put some antibiotic drops and tear substitute 4 times a day for 7 days. The chemosis and the clot will settle in 2 weeks....TC..Dr Ajay Shankar Kar
