Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

The only concern about the pain occuring on the left side of the anterior chest wall is to exclude whether it is due to cardiac cause or not. The typical characteristic features of cardiac pain -
* It occurs diffusely over an area and is not localised to a point
* any physical activity worsens the pain
* present continuously and is not related to body postures
* may radiate into left arm

If you don't have the above described pattern of pain, then it could be definitely of muscular origin.

Generally muscle strain is self limiting and resolves spontaneously over a period of time.
* Avoid the specific movements that produces pain
* Ice compressions to relieve acute pain
* once the acute pain subsided, keep hot fomentation with moist heat to relax the tight muscles
* gentle local massage with muscle relaxant gel
* judicious use of analgesics

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
