Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic
usually wisdom teeth erupt between 18-25 years it maybe delayed up to 60 years
have warm saline gargling 3-4 times daily
take ibuprofen tablets 2 times daily to relieve pain and inflammation
it takes a few days to erupt and then pain will subside
some times the tooth (3rd molar) is impacted and can not erupt
then you should consult a dentist
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Take care

Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

I have read your concern & it seems there is erupting third molar or wisdom tooth.

Pain is due to infection of pericoronal flap surrounding the tooth.

I would treat same patient with antibiotics like Tab. cefixime 200 mg twice daily along with painkillers.

Use local disinfectant mouth rinse like beta-dine oral gargle.

If symptoms persists or worsens then visit your dentist for clinical & radiological evaluation.

Avoid intake of hot food stuff or hot fomentation.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Hello and welcome.

your history suggests that there is erupting wisdom teeth. This kind of symptoms are seen in pericoronities.you can visit your dentist and get a small surgical excision done for the pericoronal flap.

It is a small surgical process to help the tooth emerge successfully without involving surrounding gums and tissues.

you can also take a small course of antibiotics and analgesics upon consultation.

This should help you to feel better.

Let me know for further query.

Thanks.

Take care.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

According to your clinical symptoms i suppose that you have developed infection around the wisdom tooth known as PERICORONITIS. Difficulty in opening the mouth is due to pain and infection.
I would suggest you to visit to a Dentist and get the checkup done.
Take an OPG radiograph and plan fo the removal of the tooth.
Take a course of antibiotics and analgesics under the prescription of your Dentist.

Hope you find this as helpful,

Regards...

Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic. we are pleased to give you the best advice.

As you said the gum surrounding your wisdom tooth is swollen and you are having sharp pain is suggestive of the infection in that area.

This happens because of the immersing wisdom tooth creates a space by moving gummy tissue away form its path,so it causes the inflammation of the tissues over that area which causes the soreness to the side of moth, inability to fully open the mouth and also the pain.
The oral wound is very much susceptible to the infection so it worsens the condition.
wisdom tooth is the last tooth to erupt in the mouth at the last place of row, with longer period for complete eruption.

There is a variation of the errupting time of the wisdom tooth, it generally erupts between 18th to 29th yr of age but can take longer period also.

As per the treatment is concern,

If the tooth is coming at normal place and normal angulation there is no need to go for extraction. It can be checked by oral examination and x-ray if needed.

If such patients comes to me I would just cut out the flap of gummy tissue over it to avoid foot entrapment in that area and would prescribe the medications- antibiotic like Amoxiciline + clavulanic acid 600mg three times a day, antiinflamatory and pain killer like tab.Enzoflam three times a day after food, antacid and mouth wash like Clorhex.if needed.

if the tooth is not erupting properly then it should be removed.

Hope this information is useful to you.
please do wright review.
take care.

Regards.
