Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Your symptoms are highly suggestive of a muscle spasm.

* Give rest to local part and avoid movements which produces pain
* Use ice packs over the affected area once in 2-3 hours
* Gentle massaging with a local painkiller gel will be useful
* Moist heat fomentation will relax the taut muscles
* Analgesic medications like Motrin or Aleve as needed

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
