Hi Doctor, This is Madan I am having pain in my Left rib cage. Effect of pain killer is only 80%. After I stop pain killer, it is re occuring. The doctor told us it is Intercostal myalgia . Please suggest whether it can be that long period as still it is persisting.
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
Do you have fever/ cough with sputum/ breathlessness along with chest pain?
You should consult with internal medicine specialist/ pulmonary physician and should go for thorough check up.
You should go for chest x ray and ECG on preliminary basis.
If all mentioned symptoms are present along with significant chest x ray then there is possibility of pneumonia and you should take complete antibiotics course.
If all mentioned symptoms are absent then there is high possibility of myalgia.
You should take muscle relaxants along with analgesics.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
