Pain In The Foot. Chances Of A Stress Injury?

I think i have a stress fracture in my left foot.I hurt my foot after trying to remove boards from a wall by kicking with the bottom of my foot. Didn't notice anything at the time, however the next day at work, I was in a lot of pain.It was swollen the second day,and after five days,I can pinpoint the pain to the top left side of my foot.
Any suggestions

You get an X ray done.Take Ibuprofen 400mg thrice a day after meals, Strap the foot in Sumag ointment and avoid weight bearing till X ray decides further course of treatment.Keep the foot elevated when you sit and avoid walking as far as possible
You might need weight relieving plaster castor slab for 3 weeks.
