Pain On Left Of Throat On Swallowing, Itchy Throat And Ear. No Relief With Antibiotics. What Could The Cause Be?
Hello Doctor. I have pain on my left side of the throat when I swallow . My left ear is also very itchy and at night I get an itchy throat as well. I went to hospital last week and was given antibiotics (avullin 625mg) for 5 days but this did not work. i am really worried and would like to know what might be the problem. God bless you.

The unilateral throat pain can be result of the parotid gland inflammation which occurs mostly due to viral infections. if you didn't respond to antibiotics it means the origin is not bacterial. the viral infection recovers spontaneously within a week and do not requires any treatment. painkillers can be used for pain
