Pain On Top Of Stomach Below Rib. Tender To Touch. Cause?
im haveing sharp pains at the top of my stomach right below my rib cage been like this for months sometime its tender to touch been xrayed and nothing found . the pain is there and i dont know what causeing it sometime the pain is sharp knife stabbing i just want it to go away . i been to 2 doctors and havent found out nothing please can you help me. is it an ulcer or hernia its driveing me crazy
The possibility of a hernia is really very unlikely in this case. I think acute gastritis and peptic ulcer disease should be considered in this case. A gastroenterologist opinion is actually needed in this case. I would love to know if you have done a fibroscopy yet. This could be useful in excluding this possibility of gastritis.
An abdominal ulltrasound could be useful to exclude any abdominal organ lesion like to the liver , gall bladder, kidney could be useful.
Thanks as I suggest you consult your gastroenterologist.
Best regards,

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, If X ray is not reveiling any cause, Only clinical diagnosis by a physian & sonography can help. There are various possibilities depending on the exact site of pain. Abdominal cavity has many imp. organs.any one of them would cause pain The type of pain you describe suggests- -It may be simple indigestion,/dispepsia Digestive enzymes, exersizes would help.investigations to find cause &T/t accordingly is needed. -weakness of the rbs (costochondritis) Cacium, vit D suppliments needed. -peptic ulcercan cause such pain-it is usually related to food(empty stmoach/after food) Antacids wthstrict dietary regeme to be observed - Bile stones can cause such a pain. - liver, spleen lungs or heart problems may cause it cc In short, you are adviced to cosult a physician to exclude many of these & come to exact diagnosis for a preoper T/t. Take care , thank you.
