Hello madam, Your area of pain associated with breathing , its sudden increase and you are not able to sleep in the supine or prone position and hiccup on and off may indicate that you may have GERD. The usual cause of Hiccup is (spasm of the diaphragm): Eating too much food too quickly. Drinking too much alcohol. Swallowing too much air. Smoking. A sudden change in stomach temperature, such as drinking a hot beverage and then a cold beverage. Emotional stress or excitement. Avoiding all these, along with Antacids + Antispasmodics may give full relief. Anyhow an Endoscopy, X-Ray chest and ECG - to rule out other cause is a must. Certain medications + diet (regular frequent bland diet and avoiding chilly) will be useful. Rest as per results. Best wishes
