Pain, Tightness In Thigh Area, Swelling Below Knee. Taking Hormone Replacement Pills. How To Control Pain?
Hi Dr. XXXXXX,
I have pain and tightness in the back of my leg in the thigh area and along the outer part of my lower leg ...also additional swelling on the front on my leg just below the knee about an inch below the knee ....I walked 6 kilometers yesterday and the day before and felt tender but today I was in the car driving for 3 hours straight without stopping and when I got out of the car I could not walk very well and I did stretch out but I cannot walk very well tonight. I am talking hormone replacement pills that can cause blood clotting but I have never had any blood clots before. Just concerned with the swelling. I do have a doctor's appointment tomorrow in the morning but what if pain gets worse through the night...what should I do?
Thanks for consultation. It looks like sort of venous congestion/ stasis. From history given by you it can not be diagnosed as Deep vein thrombosis( Clot in Vein). Along with swelling it must be pain full rather very painfull. few clincal test are there for DVT. Go for venous color doppler. Which can confirm it. Use stokinet while driving or prolong standing.
