Pain Under Shoulder Blade, Had A Fall. Taking Ibuprofen. Should I Meet A Doctor?

I took a hard fall two weeks ago, on my right side, my elbow dug into my side, which hurt, but it is much better- just a little sore. I took a lot of ibuprofen, so did not notice my back. Now, my back, just above my bra strap, under the shoulder blade hurts weirdly-sometimes when I twist, bend, lift, etc. When I sit, it is better, but it feels like a knife and it goes as fast as it comes. Do I need to go in to have it checked?

Hi and sorry about what you are experiencing.

From your symptoms, i will suggest that you continue with the pain killers a little longer before going in. This is because these symptoms are classical for soft tissue contusion and generally get resolved after a short course of anti inflammatory treatment.

if the pain continues to increase or you have loss of function of the affected body part, then you may want to go in and check that all is okay. For the mean time, please avoid constantly moving the affected part as it only provokes the pain and delays healing and may also aggravate the trauma. Let it rest as long as it is not needed for any activity.

Hope this helps and provide guidance.
