Painful Cut In The Gum After Using A New Tooth Brush. What To Do?
I got a new tooth brush the other day, and I used it that night. After I was done, I noticed I spit out blood . I had a cut in my lower left gum deep down around the bottom row of my teeth . It wasn t so bad until I brushed my teeth the next day, and irritated it worse and now it is so much worse, and it stings, and hard to smile, talk or eat and all of that.
hi and welcome to HCM,
Selection of a proper tooth brush is very important in maintaining good oral health.
according to your teeth size and gum health you can select from soft , ultrasoft , medium , and hard toothbrushes available in market.
i would suggest you to use a soft tooth brush and use the proper brushing technique like brushing the teeth in circular motion and for gums use flicking movements without any pressure this will help preventing trauma to the gums .
As your gums have got injured, avoid applying tooth brush over it, you can apply dentogel, an oral antiseptic ointment, topically over the injured area which will help in healing.
use chlorhexidine mouthwash for rinsing the mouth.
i hope this helps,
take care.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query,
The goal of brushing is to remove food particles from around the teeth to render them clean and our breath feeling fresh. Food usually collects in the form of “plaque”, which is that whitish material that likes to hang around the gumline. So when you take your toothbrush, you are carrying it around the teeth, but often also against the gumline and maybe a little bit higher onto the gums themselves. So you brush and you brush and you brush and you’re done, great.
Keep brushing, but do so with a soft toothbrush, a light touch and with an up and down motion against the teeth to minimize destruction. It doesn’t matter if the toothbrush is manual or electric, both types can cause the same problem.
Sensitivity of any kind may be an indicator of more a serious dental and/or overall health condition.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful
Regards
one is that your brush is too hard. For this you need to replace your tooth brush with a medium/soft bristle bush ,based upon the texture of your gums.
second and most important thing is that, the manual dexterity with which you brush.
you have to brush your teeth gently with focusing on it ,also you do not have to spend more time brushing it.just 7 to 8 strokes is enough, followed by through mouth rinsing.
If it is possible for you, then you can go through various brushing techniques, learn them and brush your teeth effectively.
Hi, Welcome to HCM forum your problem seems to be related to trauma from brush. Due to which mucosa has been peeled off from that site. You can apply trigel over it, take multivitamin for early recovery. Take lemon water and nutritious diet. Avoid spicy food as it will irritate you. Take care
hi... thanks for the query... injury you had, will take time get heal... just clean the area and apply local anesthetic gel over the area... use ultra soft toothbrush... don't brush over the injured area... avoid hot and spicy foods... hope it will help you... take care...
Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
It seems that due to cut in the gum there is infection giving rise to this problem.
Take one course of antibiotic and anti inflammatory medicine.
Go for Listerine gargle.
Do gargling after taking any thing by mouth.
Ok and bye.
